Increasing fuel prices are no surprise to you. Unfortunately, the high fuel use in our business and increasing prices are impacting its viability.

Due to the extraordinary increase in fuel prices in recent months we have made the difficult decision to incorporate a temporary surcharge to cover the cost of fuel used above $2/L beginning 1st April 2026.

As a sign of goodwill we are absorbing the fuel cost increase up to $2 from the pre-event prices of $1.70 for diesel and $1.65 for ULP 91. We dearly hope this surcharge is temporary, but time will tell.

For our vessels, this will be based on actual fuel usage in litres for your day and the ULP 91 pump price beyond $2/L on the day of the fishing charter.

For the tow vehicles, we will absorb the extra fuel cost to and from Rockhampton and Nerimbera boat ramps. Travel to ramps at Port Alma will attract a $5 surcharge for every 25c/L increment beyond $2 based on the pump price on the day of the fishing charter. Please see Table 1 below for more detail.

While this is more complex than a flat day rate surcharge, we feel it is the fairest and most equitable for everyone.

This surcharge is only applicable if fuel or diesel preces exceed $2/L at the time of your charter.

Three examples are provided below to help you understand the impact on your trip.

Best Case: Example 1 – Town reaches trip with the 4.5m luring boat 28/03/2026.

Ramp used – Southside ramp – no diesel surcharge.

Boat fuel used in the 70hp outboard – 15L

ULP 91 Pump Price 28/03/26 – $2.59

Boat & Total Fuel Surcharge – $8.85

Typical Dry season Example 2: Mid River trip with the 5.5m boat 28/03/2026.

Ramp used – Nerimbera ramp – no diesel surcharge.

Boat fuel used in the 130hp outboard – 40L

ULP 91 Pump Price 28/03/26 – $2.59

Boat & Total Fuel Surcharge – $23.60

Typical Wet Season Example 3: Port Alma trip with the 6.2m boat 28/03/2026.

Ramp used – Inkerman Ramp

Diesel pump price 28/03/26: $3.19

Diesel Surcharge – $25

Boat fuel used in the 200hp outboard – 60L

ULP 91 Pump Price 28/03/26 – $2.59

Boat Fuel Surcharge – $35.40

Total Fuel Surcharge – $60.40

If you have booked with us and this influences your use of our services, we completely understand and will not be offended if you need to cancel the trip. Any booking fee paid will be refunded in this circumstance.
